After watching the movie and wondering how something this awful made it pass the production gates, I had to check out the book it was based on. It was not a surprise to find that the movie strayed so far from the book that the only thing they have in common is character names.

Seriously, if anyone is disappointed or confused or stupefied by the movie, check out the book. It does a much better job explaining in a believable manner how the operation played out step by step. There’s less good vs. bad–us vs. them–and more systematic storytelling.
